Application for Graduation
Ramapo College seeks to fulfill its mission by providing students
with opportunities to investigate and analyze our increasingly
interdependent and intercultural world. An emphasis on critical
thinking and an awareness of value questions prepares Ramapo
College students to become life-long learners. Preparation for
a degree from Ramapo College provides the opportunity and structure
for students to explore their potential and develop their intellectual
goals.
The first-time student will find the emphasis of the Freshman
and Sophomore years on General Education course work and the
development of writing, critical reading, and mathematical skills.
Opportunities for exploring potential majors are provided through
selection of options in the Freshman and Sophomore General Education
requirements. Second-semester Sophomores and Juniors focus more
specifically on the theories and methods of their majors. In
the Senior year, integrative studies, fieldwork, and seminars
are featured.
The requirements for graduation for each student are those requirements
in effect at the date of matriculation. Students transferring
course work should refer to the section on Transfer Applicants
in this Catalog for information about the applicability of transferred
course work for graduation requirements.
A matriculated student who voluntarily interrupts college study
at Ramapo College for one semester only may resume study after
a single semesters absence under the graduation requirements
that were in effect at the time of matriculation. A matriculated
student who voluntarily interrupts college study at Ramapo College
for two or more consecutive semesters must apply for readmission
to the College and continue studies under the graduation requirements
in effect at the time of readmission. Students readmitted in
accordance with the Academic Standing policy of the College
continue their studies under the graduation requirements in
effect at the time of their readmission. |
