Course Placement Determined by SAT Scores
Students that earned an SAT-Math score of 580 or higher will be placed in a 100-level Math course based on their major requirements. This course is counts as 4 credits toward graduation requirements.
SAT and ACT scores do not exempt students from the Calculus Placement Test if Calculus is required for your major. The only way to be exempt from the Calculus Placement Test is if you have college-level Pre-Calculus or Calculus credits.
Course Placement Determined by ACT Scores
Students that earned an ACT Composite score of 26 or higher will be placed in a 100-level Math course based on their major requirements. This course is counts as 4 credits toward graduation requirements. A composite score of 26 or higher will also result in CRWT 102 course placement.
ACT and SAT scores do not exempt students from the Calculus Placement Test if Calculus is required for your major. The only way to be exempt from the Calculus Placement Test is if you have college-level Pre-Calculus or Calculus credits.
Course Placement Determined by ACCUPLACER Math Placement Test Scores
Students that took the Math Placement Test can interpret their scores using the following. Please note, on your score report the scores will be listed under the Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics section.
Course Placement Determined by ACCUPLACER Calculus Placement Test Scores
Students that took the Calculus Placement Test can interpret their scores using the following. Please note, on your score report the scores will be listed under Advanced Algebra and Functions section.
Please Note: The Calculus Placement Test may only be taken if one or more of the following conditions is met:
Course Placement Determined by AP Calculus AB or BC Test Scores
Students who score 4 or 5 on AP Calculus AB receive credit for Calculus I and are not required to take the Calculus Placement Test.
Students who score 4 or 5 on AP Calculus BC receive credit for Calculus I and II and are not required to take the Calculus Placement Test.
Students who score 3 on AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC receive no credit but may register for MATH 121 Calculus I and are not required to take the Calculus Placement Test.
Course Placement Determined by AP Precalculus Test Scores
The Math placement test is a computer adaptive assessment of test takers’ ability for selected mathematics content. Questions will focus on a range of topics including computing with rational numbers, applying ratios and proportional reasoning, creating linear expressions and equations, graphing and applying linear equations, understanding probability and set notation, and interpreting graphical displays. In addition, questions may assess a student’s math ability via computational or fluency skills, conceptual understanding, or the capacity to apply mathematics presented in a context. All questions are multiple choice in format and appear discretely (stand alone) across the assessment. The following knowledge and skill categories are assessed:
