“I am so incredibly grateful for my experience at Ramapo. If not for the Women’s Center, I would not have discovered my passion for student affairs, social justice, LGBT advocacy and feminist activism. I quickly learned that Ramapo is a special place that puts students first, and truly trusts them to help make the community a safer and more inclusive home away from home. I always felt supported and challenged to grow. I try to bring a little piece of Ramapo to every university I work at, especially for students with multiple marginalized identities.” – Zaneta Rago ’10 majored in History with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. In 2014, she was named the Michael Parkes Distinguished Alumni NIA Award recipient by New York University and received the New Professional of the Year Award from the NASPA GLBT Knowledge Community, and the Promising New Professional of the Year Award from The Consortium of LGBT Resource Professionals in Higher Education. In 2013, Zaneta received the New Student Affairs Professional of Year Award by Rutgers University. Zaneta received her master’s in higher education and student affairs administration at New York University and is currently the director of the Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities at Rutgers University.
