“I’ve been very lucky to have had so many opportunities at Ramapo. Beginning freshman year, I started shadowing seniors in the TAS research honors program and was able to learn many techniques that have helped me throughout my subsequent years of study. I had faculty who have taken their time to help prepare me for internships, research programs, conferences, and applying for graduate school. I not only completed a summer internship working for an organic synthesis lab the summer after my sophomore year, but was also selected to be a part of a summer research program at City College this past summer. I was able to expand my education abroad. As a member of the National Society for Collegiate Scholars, I was nominated for the International Scholar Laureate Program’s delegation on Medicine and Science in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia. There I completed a case study about health disparities among the aboriginal people and learned about the Australian healthcare system. Back at school, I was a part of the Teacher’s Assistant program in the Chemistry Department, and was able to help my fellow students in the Organic Chemistry lab and share my experiences with them to better prepare them for upper level and current classes. From the research conducted as a part of the TAS research honors program, I presented at four undergraduate research symposiums and one national meeting and also presented an oral presentation at Ramapo’s Student Research Symposium. Outside of the science world, I have developed leadership skills and am running my own private theatre company in Middletown, New Jersey, called Constellation Production Company. I am using my skills learned from the SAIL program at Ramapo to aid in such a difficult task of running this nonprofit organization.” – Jennifer Trabucco ’18 graduated with a degree in Biochemistry and a Literature minor.
