Brittany Hooper

“I studied abroad three times during my time at Ramapo: twice in Spain and once in Costa Rica. Within the first few days that I landed in Seville, Spain for my first trip, I knew this was going to be the beginning of many adventures. In fact, while in Seville, I enrolled in a summer program to Costa Rica for that same year.

Studying abroad has led me to so many solo travel experiences post-grad: from backpacking around Slovenia to teaching English in Chile to eating my way through Japan to even living in Spain for graduate school… the list goes on and on.

As of now, I’ve been to 35 countries, majority of them on my own, and it all started by me saying yes to my first study abroad trip in 2014.

Overall, travel certainly has made a huge impact on my life. I think Anthony Bourdain said it best: ‘Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life — and travel — leaves marks on you.’

I’m unsure where my next destination will be, but wherever I am in the world, I remain so grateful to the RCIE for helping me become a forever Global RoadRunner and find my passion for world travel!” – Brittany Hooper ’17 graduated as a double major in International Studies and Spanish. After graduating from Ramapo College, she attended Middlebury College to receive her M.A. in Spanish Linguistics in 2019.
