Brenda Arthur

“I studied abroad in Costa Rica for five weeks with ISA during the summer of 2015. I took an intensive Spanish course, a Tropical Ecology course and taught an English class. I lived with an amazing host family whose home was just outside the capital city of San José. I went on beautiful excursions, field trips and adventures to locations on the Caribbean coast, the Pacific Ocean and rural parts of Costa Rica. The culture of Costa Rica is so unique. The country’s slogan, “pura vida,” translates to “pure life” and embodies everything good – a positive outlook, happiness, relaxation and a way of appreciating and living each day. When you open yourself to Costa Rica, “pura vida” becomes a part of you. The memories I have made have touched me in a special, everlasting way.” – Brenda Arthur ’17 graduated with a degree in Biology.
