Sandra Bright Granito

“I look back fondly on my time as a nursing student at Ramapo College with reverence. I made many friends there, all whom I keep in touch with even today. The faculty was compassionate and knowledgeable. They taught me skills that enabled me to become an experienced nurse, charge nurse, and preceptor to new graduate nurses. I also joined many quality assurance committees at my hospital to formulate and evaluate measures to improve safe and compassionate patient care. The support I received and challenges I conquered during my time as a nursing student prepared me for perhaps the hardest experience I’ve ever faced: Being a frontline worker as a critical care nurse in a COVID-19 ICU. Since graduating in 2013, my life has changed in so many ways. I got married in 2014, moved to South Carolina in 2019, and was most recently inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing. I am currently studying for my Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in adult gerontology acute care at Maryville University of Saint Louis to become a nurse practitioner, and I am grateful for how Ramapo College prepared me for this next step in my career.” – Sandra Bright Granito ’13 graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
