Grace Brennan

“Upon entering my senior year, I wasn’t sure which path I would take following graduation. The uncertainty did not linger for long, however, thanks to the resources available at Ramapo. I consulted with the coordinator of the Pathways Program and figured out the ‘why’ behind my major, extracurricular activities, and interests. Understanding my purpose in each of these areas helped me not only discover my passions, but how to bring those passions to fruition. I realized I wanted to work for a non-profit organization that would be both challenging and align with my passions and values. I found two different organizations that met these desires – City Year and Teach For America (TFA) – and was fortunate to receive offers from both organizations. After much consideration, I chose to join TFA. As a 2017 New York City Corps member, I will be both a teacher and advocate for educational equity. I am where I am now because of Ramapo’s resources and the many professors who have not only inspired my thinking, but helped me gain the necessary skills to thrive in the professional world. As I prepare for my next two years with TFA, I am confident I will be successful because of my experiences at Ramapo. My journey begins at Excel Charter Middle School in Brooklyn, where I will be teaching a group of either sixth or eighth graders, and I couldn’t be more excited!” – Grace Brennan ’17 graduated with a degree in Literature and is now a Corps Member of Teach for America. While at Ramapo, Grace was on the Dean’s List, and a member of Chi Alpha Sigma; Sigma Tau Delta, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Golden Key International Honor Society. A member of the Ramapo softball team, Grace was named the NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete in 2015 and 2016. Grace was the North Jersey Media Group Foundation/The Record Scholarship 2017 Recipient.
