Brianne Bishop

“The most rewarding job I have had while at Ramapo was working for the CAAFYE office (now known as the Center for Student Success), where I served as a peer advisor, orientation leader, orientation coordinator and peer facilitator. Each of those positions allowed me to develop and build upon my leadership skills. I believe that becoming a peer facilitator was a stepping stone to all my involvement and accomplishments at Ramapo.” – Brianne Bishop ’16 graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Visual Arts. She bicycled across America during the summer of 2015 with the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults to raise money, provide support and create awareness for young adults with cancer. Brianne also spent the fall 2015 semester studying abroad in Costa Rica and conducting research on ecotourism and biodiversity.

Since graduation, Brianne worked a combination of temporary part-time jobs at places, including Duke Farms, City Green, and Dogwood Farms. As those jobs came to an end, Brianne said she realized what her next step would be. “I decided it was a sign that I was meant to travel down to Costa Rica and complete more volunteer work with NATUWA Santuario de Lapas (a project I was introduced to through the Ramapo Alternative Break program),” she said. “I stayed there for three months and am planning to spend more time in the future. At the sanctuary, I helped develop and implement the volunteer program, gave educational tours of the sanctuary, and assisted with fieldwork. Ramapo College helped shape my post-graduation successes by introducing me to the sanctuary and providing me the leadership experiences necessary to succeed in my position abroad.”
