“Ramapo was the perfect creativity incubator for a young artist. As someone who was previously considering conservatory training, I am so happy that I ended up at Ramapo. From the inclusive multi-media environment of the Berrie Center to the communal, familial nature of the theater program (that is fostered beautifully by the faculty), it was a perfect place to learn and hone my craft. And, perhaps most importantly as an artist, it was a trusted space to experiment and play–encouraging an ease and flexibility that is critical to success and happiness as you pursue a field in the arts. Ramapo’s hiring of working adjuncts–with careers in TV, film and Broadway–was also priceless to help educate and prepare us for the future. I return to Ramapo often to help young actors navigate the business of acting as a career, and I still live and work in New Jersey.” – Jen Ponton ’06 graduated with a degree in Theater. She received the Dean’s Award in 2006 and an Alumni Honor in 2015. Since graduating 10 years ago, Jen has made a notable career in television, including roles on “30 Rock,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “The Blacklist,” “Blue Bloods,” “The Good Wife,” “The Slap,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “Orange Is The New Black,” “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “Deadbeat” and more. Jen has also starred in a feature comedy (“Love On The Run,” premiering soon), as well as roles opposite Michael Caine in Zach Braff’s “Going In Style,” opposite Greta Gerwig in Todd Solondz’s “Wiener-Dog,” and opposite Louisa Krouse in “King Kelly.” Her films have screened at Sundance, SXSW and Tribeca Film Festival. In addition, Jen is also co-creator of the family comedy puppet-based web series “The Weirdos Next Door.”
