“I came to Ramapo as a scared EOF freshman, and being the first in my family to attend college, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. But I very quickly overcame my fear by becoming involved on campus. I am grateful for the small classes and the individual attention I receive from my professors which has allowed me to pursue a double major while still being able to graduate on time. One of the best experiences was having the opportunity to study abroad. I spent an amazing semester at the Universidad de Deusto in Bilbao, Spain, in the fall of 2014, and had an internship with UNESCO Extea. I lived with a host family and they made me feel like one of their own and allowed me to merge into all aspects of the culture of both the Spaniard and Basque country. Bilbao is a small but intriguing city and is walking distance to almost everything and only a 20-minute train ride to the beach. I enjoyed everything about my study abroad experience, including my other trips to Barcelona, Madrid, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Paris and Portugal. My biggest concern for studying abroad was financial aid. However, I found a program that worked well with my financial situation.
The entire Ramapo experience has helped me utilize the resources that are available and build a network that I am sure I will use even after I graduate. There are no limits what I can accomplish!” – Monica Cuello ’16 graduated with double major in Spanish Language and Literature. During her internship at UNESCO Extea, Monica worked in human resources, advertising and event planning, and she served as an interpreter.
