“During the spring semester of my junior year, I studied abroad in Bilbao, Spain, at the University of Deusto. I spent five amazing months studying Spanish and Basque Culture and International Relations with CIDE (Centro Internacional ‘Deusto’de Español). During our trip, we visited Madrid, Segovia and Southern France, and also the local world-famous Guggenheim to understand the Spanish and Basque cultures and what their coexistence means in Spain today. I also learned a little bit of the Basque language. The landscape was lush and green, and there was a lot of beautiful scenery. Studying abroad will take everything you thought you knew about the world and give you an entirely new perspective. Immersing yourself in an unfamiliar territory is a great way to learn more about yourself, as well as another culture. I made many new friends and, during breaks from my studies, traveled all around Europe. I could honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life.” – Ashlee Garcia graduated in 2014 with degrees in International Studies and Political Science.
