“Originally from Bulgaria, I chose to major in International Studies because I was eager to learn about different countries, cultures and people and the way they interact with one another. Over the course of my studies, I had the incredible opportunity to spend three semesters abroad – India (Bangalore), China (Shanghai) and Russia (Saint Petersburg) and to participate in a number of international competitions, including Model United Nations in Quito, Ecuador. It is because of the strong academic preparation and diverse experiences that Ramapo gave me that I was able to secure a job after graduation at the Institute of International Studies in New York City.
Soon after, I received an acceptance letter from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). The first year of my Master’s studies in International Economics and International Relations took place in Bologna, Italy. I built upon the skills I had acquired at Ramapo College and focused on international economics and development. Before my return to the United States (Washington, D.C.) for my second year of MA, I spent the summer at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in its regional office in Istanbul, Turkey.
Currently, I am privileged to work for the World Bank, where I am applying language or quantitative economic skills as well as what I learned about international relations.” – Dorina Georgieva ’11 graduated with a degree in International Studies and currently works for the Doing Business Report of the World Bank.
