Emily Moore

“I have always been grateful for my experiences at Ramapo College. As I get further from graduation, I find that I am becoming even more grateful. The skills that I learned at Ramapo about how to think critically and express myself have lead to my confidence in my teaching career. American Studies classes focused heavily on using culture, literature and art to learn about the historic context in which they were created. I use this mentality daily in my own classroom to help engage my students.

The professors who guided me through undergrad have transitioned into lifelong mentors who are now helping to guide me in my career. The friends that I met in the dorms, during First Year Seminar, or during my time studying in Hawaii have become the people who I Zoomed with during quarantine. They are the friends who I celebrate with at weddings; weddings that have so many Ramapo alum that we warrant our own photo. I knew that the connections I made at Ramapo were special, but time is making those friendships even more valuable.” – Emily Moore ’14 graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in American Studies and a teaching certificate in Secondary Education.

While at Ramapo, Emily received the Pillars Award and the Academic Excellence in American Studies Award. She studied abroad in Fall 2012 through the National Student Exchange with the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Emily earned a Masters of Education, Teacher of Students with Disabilities in 2018 from William Paterson University and a Masters of Education Curriculum and Instruction in 2020 from Western Governors University. She is currently a Social Studies Teacher at Ramsey High School.
