Danish Institute for Study Abroad – Copenhagen, Denmark (summer 2013)

Hi! My name is Ashley Orlando and I am a junior at Ramapo.  I am a Business Management major with minors in Psychology and International Business.  This past summer I had the amazing opportunity of studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark.  I was so nervous before I left, worried because I had never been out of the United States and knew little of Danish culture and language.  Upon landing in Copenhagen and seeing the city for the first time, all of my doubts vanished.  Copenhagen is breathtakingly beautiful and full of life.  There was never a dull moment throughout my stay due to the countless sights and shops to see and explore.  The class on Corporate Social Responsibility was both challenging and enjoyable as well.  Denmark is a very forward-thinking country and all of its companies strive to be as sustainable as possible.  Taking the class truly allowed me to realize that businesses, and not just people, can take an active role in making the world a better place. After my wonderful time in Copenhagen, I wholeheartedly believe that everyone, given the opportunity, should study abroad.  I learned so much about myself and another culture throughout my time there.  I am now a more independent person and I feel as if I can do anything I set my mind to.  One day, I would like to possibly return to Copenhagen and also travel to other countries throughout the world.  The sky is now the limit for me!
