Who is eligible for student health insurance?
- All full-time undergraduate students enrolled in twelve (12) or more credits
- All full-time graduate students enrolled in nine (9) or more credits
How can a student waive the insurance coverage?
- To waive the Ramapo College of New Jersey sponsored insurance plan coverage, follow the steps provided below:
- Go to www.universityhealthplans.com/ramapo
- Select the “waiver form” in the left hand navigation menu
- Enter your student ID and date of birth, and click continue
- Answer the pre-waiver form questions and click continue
- Enter insurance information and click apply
Please allow two days from the date you successfully completed your waiver for the credit to appear on your account.
What is the waiver criteria?
- In order to opt-out of the Ramapo College of New Jersey sponsored Health Insurance Plan, the student must provide proof of existing insurance coverage and must agree to maintain coverage throughout the entire academic year. The insurance plan must provide coverage in New Jersey
What happens if the student waives the insurance plan and then loses coverage?
- Students may be able to enroll in the policy if they experience a Qualifying Life Event. Students should contact University Health Plans at 833-251-1149 within 31 days of their loss of coverage to verify eligibility
Can a student enroll and use the insurance prior to the waiver deadline?
- If a student needs to utilize the insurance prior to the final enrollment file being submitted to Aetna, they may do so by following the instructions provided below:
- Go to www.universityhealthplans.com/Ramapo
- Review the information on the page and then select the “enrollment form” in the left hand side navigation menu
- Enter your student ID and date of birth, and click continue
- Enter your personal information, and click apply
How does a student request an insurance card?
- Once enrolled, students may get their insurance card by visiting the Aetna website http://www.universityhealthplans.com/ramapo. Click on the “Online Insurance ID Card” button located toward the right side of the page. Enter your student ID, date of birth, and select “Submit”. Typically, cards are not available for the Fall semester until on or around August 1st.
