Welcome to Ramapo College Pre-Law Advising. This site is designed to assist you in applying to law school and answer general questions you might have about the application process. If questions remain after you have navigated through the site, please contact Dr. Mia Serban, Dr. Jeffrey Ellsworth, Dr. Jeremy Teigen, Dr. David Gurney, or Dr. Michael Unger, the Pre-Law Advisors on campus.

The Advisors can help you decide whether to go to law school, which schools you should apply to, how to prepare for the LSAT, how to draft personal statements, obtain letters of recommendation, and finance your legal education. Pre-Law Advising will also guide you on the process of Dean’s Certification letters required by some law schools.

Below we also post announcements and updates on topics relating to law school and the practice of law, as well as other relevant information.

It is the mission of the Ramapo College Pre-Law Advisor to provide comprehensive services to students and graduates interested in pursuing legal careers. It is the hope of Ramapo College that you will go on to law school and become a happy and productive legal scholar and/or lawyer.

LSAC Prelaw Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Programs

The LSAC PLUS Program offers aspiring legal professionals a window about what to expect in law school and supportive insights about the law school enrollment journey. Each year, LSAC partners with host law schools to provide selected participants with a unique immersive learning experience designed to prepare them for law school success. There is no cost to participate in the program, and each participant is eligible to receive a $1,000 stipend and fee waiver from LSAC. The PLUS Program is specifically aimed at rising undergraduate sophomores and juniors from minoritized groups who are underrepresented in the legal profession. However, anyone can apply and, during the application process, applicants have the opportunity to demonstrate ways in which they can benefit from the program.

Maine PreLaw Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Program

“The PreLaw Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Program at the University of Maine School of Law will teach oral, written, and leadership skills that will be useful in whatever community you live and any career you choose to pursue.” This is a three-week summer immersion program designed specifically for undergraduate students.

Pace Pre-Law Certificate Program

“This intensive program, situated just a few blocks away from all major New York County courthouses in Manhattan, will include approximately 60 hours of in-class lectures, visits to law firms and court rooms, law school application guidance, audits of actual law school classes, and guest speakers from various legal and business fields. Participants will have an opportunity to live and network with other Pace University students, and law students from around the world, including international LLM (Master of Laws) students.”
