Social Media Group

Our Fall 2024 meetings will be held on: September 20 in AC-012 at 11 am, October 3 at 11 am in AC-012, November 19 at 2 pm in A-218 and December 10 (a collaborative coffee chat, location TBD).

Do you manage or help coordinate social media accounts affiliated with Ramapo College? Our Social Media Group is for you! We aim to connect, collaborate, inform, and empower social media administrators of affiliated college accounts so that we all can “work smarter, not harder.” All members of campus are welcome: faculty, staff, students and administration. 

Designated administrators for college affiliated accounts are automatically members of the Group, and are required to participate (Per Social Media Policy Section III and Section IV, item 6). 

Some things you can expect to gain from this group are:

  • Showcase Campus Talent and Content: Highlight and share the diverse talents and achievements within the campus community.
  • Brainstorm Content Ideas: Engage in collaborative sessions to generate innovative content ideas.
  • Strategize and Provide Feedback: Develop and refine goals and strategies with constructive feedback.
  • Enhance Social Media Skills: Continuously improve professional social media skills through targeted development.
  • Photo/Video Editing Training: Receive training in photo and video editing to enhance content quality.
  • Celebrate Successes: Share success stories and student accomplishments to boost campus visibility and engagement.
  • Foster Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work together across departments to create cohesive and engaging content.
  • Stay Updated on Best Practices: Learn about the latest best practices and new features or tools for social media.
  • Promote Student Talent: Increase opportunities to showcase and develop student talent and student-produced content.
  • Open Forum for Social Media: Participate in open discussions about social media challenges, successes, and concerns.

This group has a variety of meeting styles:

  • Workshops (Reel editing, caption writing, photography tips, etc)
  • Training sessions (guest speakers)
  • Collaborative coffee chats (1-2x a semester)

We typically meet once a month or 3-4 times a semester.
