RCNJ Influencer Guidelines

The following are guidelines for members of the RCNJ Influencer Program. These are meant to be a helpful reference guide for participating in the program.

  1. Familiarize yourself with the College’s Brand Guidelines. This can give you a greater understanding on the College’s brand identity and knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes for our marketing and social media efforts: ramapo.edu/brand/
  2. You should also get familiarized with the College’s Social Media website – this contains the College’s Policy, Procedure, Guidelines, Best Practices and more. As a member of the RCNJ Influencer program, you’re an unofficial member of the Social Media team here at the College: ramapo.edu/social-media/
  3. One last thing – you should do a quick review to refresh your knowledge of the College’s Student Handbook, especially the Student Code of Conduct. It’s important to be informed about the College’s policies and procedures: ramapo.edu/student-conduct/student-handbook/
  4. Requirement – the accounts that you use to post content for the RCNJ Influencer program should be public so that more people can see your content and follow you.
  5. Benefits
    1. Be part of a team of Roadrunners who love RCNJ, and who want to showcase authentic student life and contribute to publishing positive content that furthers the College’s mission and brand.
    2. Gain real-world experience by working with a social media team.
    3. Pitch ideas to the Social Media Team to have a place at the table for content opportunities on personal and/or College accounts. Take advantage of insights from the team for constructive feedback, tips on crafting your content.
    4. Add participation and new skill sets to your resume to reflect this student leadership experience
    5. Increase communication skills – whether it be through communicating about content projects, crafting the perfect copy for captions or text on content, and connecting with other Influencers during training or collaboration sessions.
    6. Receive swag and other incentives when funding is available.
  6. Recognition
    1. Influencers will be advised to add their involvement with the program on their resumes, LinkedIn accounts and if applicable, their email signatures.
    2. When content from an Influencer is occasionally chosen to appear on the College’s social media, they will receive a line of recognition either in the caption and/or in a comment. If an Influencer has a username on the account that the content is posted on, their username may be tagged and/or listed in the caption and/or comment.
    3. Once an Influencer has been with the program for one semester and has been approved to continue on to the next semester, they will receive an official certificate to recognize their involvement in the program.
  7. Involvement
    1. Time-commitment – Influencers will be accepted into the program on a per-semester basis. The amount of content produced will be decided upon between each Influencer and the Social Media Team upon signing of the RCNJ Influencer Agreement. In no way should this involvement hinder or obstruct the Influencer from completing coursework, class time, and other student activities.
    2. Should the Social Media Team offer and the Influencer accept, some members might continue on in the program for the following semester or full academic year.
    3. Influencers may spotlight or include their friends, classmates, roommates and fellow Roadrunners in their content as long as consent has been obtained.
    4. If at any time an Influencer is found to have violated the College’s Student Code of Conduct, involved in an unflattering situation or has sullied the College’s reputation/brand, the Influencer will be terminated from the program.
    5. Influencers can also “collab” with each other! We would love that!
