Sarah Severini

Sarah Severini of Wood Ridge, N.J. is an Elementary Education Major in the 4+1 MASE Program. She has a 3.6 GPA and received Dean’s List for the Spring 2020, 2021, and 2022 Semesters as well as the Fall 2022 Semester.

At Ramapo, Sarah has been active in the Peer Facilitation Program for the past three years, and an Executive Board member of Ramapo L.E.A.D to advocate for people with Disabilities and host on-campus events to raise money for organizations for disabilities.

Sarah has also been involved off –campus with an after school program named Build Yourself Up as a sports, arts and crafts, and SEL coach. She is also a trainer of Taekwondo.

“I am extremely proud of receiving her BLS Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification in June of 2021. I believe that Facing challenges and new things can be debilitating however helping people in all aspects is of utmost importance whether it be in the classroom or in everyday life,” says Sarah.

Goals post-graduation for Sarah include working in the North Jersey area as a Kindergarten or first grade teacher and being an active member of my community as much as possible.

Marina and William Topken Teacher Education Scholarship

Marina Topken graduated from Ramapo College in 1987 with a degree in American and International Studies. She taught and translated German at several language institutions in the area and tutors children in underserved schools in Paterson, NJ. Mrs. Topken has been a steady supporter of the College’s The Fund for Ramapo College since 1997. She and her husband William have been involved with the Friends of Ramapo for many years and were instrumental in raising funds for the Friends. Mrs. Topken served as the Friends’ president and Mr. Topken as the group’s treasurer.

In 2006, Mr. and Mrs. Topken established this endowed scholarship fund to honor the positive relationship they have shared with the College and their commitment to education. Specifically, the Topken Scholarship benefits teacher education students who demonstrate community service and leadership at Ramapo.
