Presentation at the National Conference of the Academy of Business Research

Presented by Regional Director Vincent Vicari and co-author Dr. Stephen Betts, the leader of the research task force within the Economic Recovery Task Force Initiative, the NJSBDC at Ramapo College represented RCNJ before the Academy of Business Research at their national conference in Boca Raton, Florida. Presenting on COVID recovery strategies made possible through Cares Act funding, the interdisciplinary student learning and business outcomes achieved by the center’s Economic Recovery Task Force Initiative were highlighted. The NJSBDC at Ramapo College brought home the Best Paper Award from this national conference.

Supporting Ramapo’s 4th Annual Women Entrepreneurship Week

SBDC clients were represented at Enactus’s 4th Annual Women Entrepreneurship Week. The Small Business Owner(s) brought in by the SBDC at Ramapo College were guest speakers at the event and participated in round table discussions with students. Work with Veterans

The SBDC at Ramapo College recently made headlines in InsiderNJ for its work supporting veteran owned businesses. The SBDC Economic Recovery Task Force Initiative has been credited for facilitating millions of dollars of capital infusions to local businesses in the region. Fall Intern Employment Outcomes

TAS’s Andrew Clark ’23, was hired by Hartmetrics, the 2021 NJSBDC Small Business Success Award Winner from Bergen County, to help manage their web-development activities. He is currently on sabbatical from his SBDC internship in order to focus on completing this paid employment assignment. He will return later in 2022 to resume his SBDC internship.

School of Humanities and Global Studies Mahnoor Khan’21, who had begun the fall continuing her SBDC internship from the summer, was recruited by a digital marketing company for a full-time position. Upon her reflection of her time with the SBDC, Mahnoor has stated:

I appreciate everything the SBDC has done for me, including teaching me the skills necessary to enter the digital marketing world. I wouldn’t trade anything for the things I’ve learned and experienced through this internship, and I feel lucky to have been a part of it.

Awards and Congressional Recognition

SBDC Consultant Todd Smith, who lives in Congressional District 11, was selected by Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill for her 2021 Heroes recognition program. The purpose of the program is to recognize members of our community who have made a difference in NJ-11 over the past year.
