Thank you for being an essential part of our residential community. As the Spring semester comes to a close, we want to ensure that you have all the necessary information regarding the Spring 2025 closing procedures. Please take a moment to review the details below so you can plan accordingly.
All students must vacate their housing assignment 24 hours after their last exam or by 6:00 pm Tuesday, May 13, 2025, whichever comes first.
In cases where there are less than 24 hours between the last exam and the official closing date/time of the Residence Halls, residents must still vacate by 6:00 pm, Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
There is no paperwork to complete the check-out process. Upon check-out, all residents and their belongings must be removed from all residential areas.
Please keep in mind that students are expected to follow the final exam schedule posted on the web.
Spring Semester Resident Check-out Checklist
If your final starts after 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, and you need to stay until 9:00 AM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, submit the Check-out Extension Request by April 30, 2025. Students with approved extensions who stay past 9:00 AM will incur a $75 improper checkout fine and will be required to vacate immediately. You’ll be notified of the status via your Ramapo College email by Monday, May 5, 2025 from your Hall Office.
The Residence Life Mailroom will have limited hours during finals week. The updated hours of operation will be posted on the Residence Life Mailroom website on May 1, 2025.
Any packages not retrieved by this deadline will be discarded within 24 hours.
Residence Life Mailroom Website
You are responsible for retrieving all mail from your Residence Hall mailbox before departure and notifying your correspondents of your new address. First-class mail will not be forwarded by the College and will be returned to the sender immediately.
Check-in dates and times for all Summer Sessions can be found on the Summer Housing website.
Interim Housing is available from May 14, 2025, through May 25, 2025, for students who are employed on campus, international students, those experiencing housing insecurity, or those enrolled in a summer housing session requiring a May 26 check-in. The cost for Interim Housing is $464.88.
Students residing in on-campus housing between May 14, 2025, and May 25, 2025, must check out of their Spring 2025 housing assignment by 9:00 AM on May 14, 2025. You, along with all of our belongings, must relocate to the Village. Move-over to your Interim Housing assignment must take place on May 14, 2025, between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Guests will not be permitted during Interim Housing.
To maximize opportunities for quiet study, 24-hour quiet hours will begin at 8:00 AM on May 6, 2025. During the last week of the semester, quiet hours will be enforced 24 hours a day. Specifically, noise should not be heard outside of your room, suite, or apartment, or in the immediate areas surrounding the residence halls and apartment complexes. This is an important study period for many students, so please be respectful of your neighbors. Residents found in violation of college policies during exam week or 24-hour quiet hours may be required to leave on-campus housing immediately, held accountable by the Office of Student Conduct, and may lose their housing privileges for the following semester (if applicable).
Your final room inspection for the semester will take place once the residence halls/apartments have been vacated. We recommend that all occupants work together to ensure your room, suite, or apartment is prepared for inspection. Residents who fail the inspection or have prohibited items will be billed accordingly.
The College is not responsible for any belongings left behind. Items left behind will be immediately discarded, and fines will be assessed to each occupant. Additional charges will apply for the removal of excess or bulk items, as well as personal belongings, including any remaining trash.
Although Residence Life Paraprofessional Staff may be conducting your final inspections, they do not make the final decisions for damage assessment and billing. All damages will be assessed by Residence Life Professional Staff members in conjunction with the Facilities Staff. This assessment will be conducted once the residence halls are closed.
If you are claiming individual responsibility for a particular damage, you must email your specific hall email address indicating responsibility.
Residents who have incurred damages will receive an e-mail with an itemized bill for all damages incurred within their suite/apartment/room in June. All occupants will be held equally responsible for damages found within your living unit and will be billed accordingly. This information will be sent to your Ramapo College e-mail account from your hall office.
More information about damages can be reviewed on our damage billing website.
