Favorite Class: My favorite class is Adolescent Psychology with Dr. Maya Poran. This class provides an overview of adolescent development and the societal and cultural norms that influence individual growth. It has not only informed me about the dynamic perspectives of adolescent behavior and cognition but also encouraged self-reflection. This class truly changed my perception of life and inspired my interest in working with children and adolescents. Dr. Maya Poran is a wonderful professor, and her support has motivated me to pursue my Master’s!

Favorite Place on Campus: My favorite place on campus is the Village Apartments! I love the closeness of the apartments and the community it brings. I love sitting outside on the lawns when the weather is nice, and talking with people I’ve never met before. I love being able to spend time with my roommates, and getting to destress with them after a long day! :)

Clubs/Organizations: I’m a part of Psi Chi which is the Psychology Honors Society and a secretary for the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Future Plans: Currently, I have an internship at a child and adolescent psychiatric inpatient unit. This experience, as well as the support of my professors, encouraged me to pursue my Master’s degree! I plan on getting my master’s in clinical mental health counseling and becoming a licensed professional counseler, as well as being a certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor. My passion is to work with adolescents on their developmental paths!

Favorite Inspirational Quote: “At some point, we all have to choose, between what the world wants you to be, and who you are.”

Advice for First-Year Students: College will not always be easy, and stress will come and go, but never let anyone or anything diminish your dreams! You got this :)
