MAHWAH, N.J. – Ramapo College of New Jersey will be the site for the 2015 Northeast Regional Undergraduate Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity Conference, sponsored by the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC). The two-day conference, hosted by the Ramapo College Office of the Provost, will take place on Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24.
The conference showcases the talent and collaborative spirit of students and guidance and support of the dedicated faculty at COPLAC campuses. Undergraduate research projects in a broad range of subjects highlight what students have learned in the classroom and demonstrate the applied knowledge, critical thinking and presentation skills they have developed through their work.
Students from the following colleges will participate:
Eastern Connecticut State University
Keene State College (New Hampshire)
Mansfield University of Pennsylvania
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts
Ramapo College of New Jersey
SUNY College at Geneseo
University of Maine at Farmington
An estimated 100 students and faculty are expected to attend the event.
COPLAC fosters the mission of public liberal arts colleges. Students at COPLAC institutions have the opportunity to present the results of their undergraduate research at regional conferences where they can meet and discuss their work with peers and faculty members. Undergraduate research projects span the disciplines and afford students the prospect of intellectual engagement beyond the formal classroom setting.
