MAHWAH, N.J. – Ramapo College’s Center for Innovative and Professional Learning is offering In-class and “Live” online Project Management Boot Camps this fall for working professionals. Participants learn the basics of project management and its philosophy, benefits and project roles. Attendees leave with the tools to effectively manage projects (scope statement, work breakdown structure, project schedule), and learn how to analyze risk and develop prevention strategies. Registration is requested two weeks prior to the first day of each workshop at www.ramapo.edu/cipl/pmbootcamp
The PM Boot Camp instructor is Professor John Thomas, a highly experienced Project Management Professional (PMP®) and Ramapo College’s director of professional business certification programs. The program requires three (3) hours of online pre-work where each student identifies and works with three of their own projects to prepare stakeholder registers, define the interests and expectations of the project stakeholders, and notate other high-level information about their projects. The pre-work documents are then used in class to build additional project documents used in managing projects.
In-class PM Boot Camp is scheduled in two afternoon half-day sessions. Participants should register for only one of the two-day workshops: October 25, 2017, 12:30-4:30 p.m. or March 19 & 21, 2018, 12:30-4:30 p.m.
The online PM Boot Camp covers the same content as the In-class PM Boot Camp and is offered in four online synchronous, instructor-led classes that run noon-2 p.m. Dates for the live online meetings are: January 23, 25, 30 & February 1, 2018.
The Microsoft (MS) Project 2010 Boot Camp is an advanced level workshop for previous PM Boot Camp participants to gain intensive hands-on experience working with this essential project management tool. During the eight-hour boot camp, students learn the hidden features of MS Project allowing them to use the most robust aspects of the program to construct a detailed, resourced, costed project schedule. Students also learn how to track their projects, complete data input and output using MS Office products and how to prepare the schedule for presentation using the extensive display features in MS Project. Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word is required.
The cost for in-class, live online and advanced PM Boot Camps is $325 per attendee per course. Three or more employees from one employer each receive a $25 discount. Discounts are available for Ramapo College affiliates.
