(Mahwah) – On October 11, The Ramapo College Foundation announced that it had nominated and elected Warren W. Erdmann of Jefferson Township, vice president/general manager of the Elmwood Park-based BioReference Laboratories, to its Board of Governors. Mr. Erdmann will help fulfill the Foundation’s mission to provide the resources that make the difference in Ramapo College’s quest for educational excellence.” He was appointed for a three-year term.
BioReference Laboratories is a fast-growing clinical diagnostic laboratory that offers specialized hematological and gene-based testing, along with full service clinical testing. The regional company includes leading oncology specialists in the New York area as well as throughout the country, area-based nursing homes and correctional facilities among its clients.
Marc D. Grodman, M.D., president and CEO of BioReference Laboratories, founded the company more than twenty years ago. BusinessWeek recently ranked the company 16 on its listing of the 100 best hot growth companies; Fortune Small Business placed BioReference at number 6 on its ranking of the 100 fastest growing small companies; and most recently Forbes ranked the Company number 26 in its 2004 list of the Best Small Companies.
Ramapo College looks forward to developing cooperative education and internship opportunities with BioReference, as well as the company’s participation with the various clubs and organizations available to students who major in the College’s School of Theoretical and Applied Science, including clinical lab science and bioinformatics majors.

As vice president and general manager of BioReference Laboratories, Erdmann oversees all operational functions of the $135 million laboratory with more than 4,000 clients in seventeen states. His responsibilities include customer retention and employee integration.

In addition to his business responsibilities, Erdmann is a member of the NJBIA and the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. He represented Jefferson Township on the Picatinny Arsenal Restoration Advisory Board from 1999-2001. He is a member of the Jefferson Township Board of Education and the Planning Board. Erdmann has lived in Jefferson Township, New Jersey for 16 years during which time he has held many leadership roles within the township.
Mr. Erdmann commented: I am both pleased and honored to have been elected to play a role in creating this partnership between Ramapo College and BioReference Laboratories. It is imperative that we continually maintain and upgrade our educational systems in order to meet the challenges of the future. At BioReference we expend considerable effort and resources to support community involvement and encourage our employees to participate in civic affairs. I look forward to advancing that effort by playing a significant role in helping to make a difference in Ramapo College’s quest for educational excellence.”
Members of the Board of Governors act as ambassadors for the College and the Foundation, actively participate on committees, and ensure the Foundation’s legal, financial, and ethical integrity. They also support Foundation events including the Distinguished Citizens Dinner, annual golf outing and performing arts dinner series. Proceeds from these events help to fund student scholarships, faculty research and College projects.
