(Mahwah) – Grammy-nominated artist Phoebe Snow will perform at Ramapo College of New Jersey Saturday, October 19 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater. Emerging from New York’s Greenwich Village scene in the early 1970s, Phoebe Snow quickly gained a reputation as one of the most celebrated and deeply personal singer/songwriters of the era.
Born Phoebe Laub on July 17, 1952 in New York City, Snow borrowed her name from the Lackawanna Railroad’s passenger train, the Phoebe Snow, which ran from Hoboken to Buffalo, NY. She recorded for Shelter, Columbia and Atlantic prior to an eight-year layoff that ended with the release of Something Real in 1989.
Snow’s album, P.S., released in 1995, included the standards, Two Fisted Love,” Married Men Roche,” Do Right Woman, Do Right Man” and Every Night.” The Very Best of Phoebe Snow was released in 2001 with such hits as Poetry Man,” Teach Me Tonight,” and Don”t Let Me Down.”
Admission to the Phoebe Snow concert is $23 for adults, $18 for seniors and Ramapo affiliates, and $12 for students. For additional information, call (201) 684-7844. The Sharp Theater is located in the Berrie Center at Ramapo College.
