(Mahwah) – An Author Series featuring well-known economics and business writers is scheduled this fall at Ramapo College of New Jersey. The public is invited to attend the series, which is sponsored by the Center for Business and Public Policy of Ramapo College and the Ramapo College Business Network.
The inaugural author’s talk on Thursday, September 23 will present John J. Murphy, author of Intermarket Analysis: Profiting from Global Market Relationships. The talk is from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater on the College campus. Registration will be accepted through September 14 by calling 201.684.7373.
Intermarket Analysis is credited with creating a new branch of technical analysis emphasizing market linkages. Murphy, a former technical analyst for CNBC, has over 30 years of market experience and is the author of several best-selling books. He has appeared on Bloomberg TV, CNN Moneyline, Nightly Business Report and Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser. Murphy is the chief technical analyst for Stockcharts.com and president of MurphyMorris Money Management Company.
The series will give authors who have written informative, insightful and provocative books on economic policy, business history and other subjects the opportunity to present a lecture to the College community. Audience members–students, faculty, staff and the general public–will then have an opportunity to participate in an extensive question and answer period with the guest author,” notes Dr. Murray Sabrin, a professor of finance at Ramapo College and director of the Center for Business and Public Policy.
Another program, the first annual Sebastian J. Raciti Memorial Lecture and Dinner, will be held Wednesday, October 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. and features Dr. Edward W. Ryan, author of Virtue, Liberty and Happiness: The Story of Economic Freedom. The event is named for Dr. Sebastian Raciti, one of the founding faculty of Ramapo College who served in various roles that were instrumental in the College’s development. There is a fee to attend the lecture and dinner.
The Author Series continues on Tuesday, October 26. The guest that evening is Dr. Thomas J. DiLorenzo, an economist and historian who is the author of The Real Lincoln. He will discuss Lincoln, War and Public Policy: Lessons for the 21st Century,” how the Lincoln administration’s policies during the Civil War are relevant today.
The Ramapo College Foundation and the School of Administration and Business offer the Author Series without charge as a community service. For further information, call 201.684.7373 or e-mail cbpp@ramapo.edu.
