(Mahwah) – Dr. Kwesi Aggrey, vice provost for campus-wide technology and chief information officer at Ramapo College of New Jersey, is one of 29 university administrators selected to participate in the sixth annual Millennium Leadership Initiative (MLI). MLI is designed to strengthen both the preparation and eligibility of persons who are traditionally underrepresented in college and university presidencies.
Aggrey, of Haskell, New Jersey was appointed to Ramapo College as an assistant professor in 1989. He was promoted to a full professor in 2000 and has taught chemistry and environmental science. His research interests include water chemistry, submarine volcanoes, meteorites, and tektites. Aggrey received his undergraduate degree from the University of Science and Technology in Ghana and earned his doctorate from the University of Hawaii.
Supported by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), a four-day MLI Institute leadership conference will be held this June in Washington, D.C. An initiative of AASCU’s African-American presidents and chancellors, it provides promising senior administrators a leadership development program to prepare them for the role of college or university chief executive officer.
The Institute provides an intensive curriculum, a nationally-recognized presidential faculty, an advisor-guided professional development plan, and opportunities to sharpen skills. A mentoring program introduces participants to mentors who are current or former presidents and chancellors who provide career guidance as well as serve as sponsors and advocates.
