MAHWAH – Jazz at the Berrie Center will present trumpeter Claudio Roditi in Bossa Brazil! in April at Ramapo College of New Jersey.
Roditi, a Brazilian composer, arranger and trumpeter has released 14 albums. The Grammy-nominated artist has a busy international touring schedule that includes the most prestigious jazz festivals in the world. Roditi integrates post-bop elements and Brazilian rhythmic concepts into his music, which he plays with power and lyricism.
Accompanying Roditi will be songstress Maucha Adnet. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she began her professional singing career at the age of 15 as a member of the vocal group Céu da Boca. Adnet has performed, toured and recorded with legendary composer Antonio Carlos Jobim and his band, Banda Nova. The recordings include four CDs, “Passarim,” “Antonio Brasileiro,” “Tom Jobim Inédito” and “Rio Revisited.” The singer toured with Jobim throughout Brazil, the United States, Japan, Israel and Europe and performed in jazz festivals and venues such as Carnegie Hall (NY), Avery Fisher Hall (NY), and the Hollywood Bowl (CA), among others.
Claudio Rodito in Bossa Brazil! will perform at the Sharp Theater Friday, April 24 at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $23, $20 and $18 for adults, $12 for children under 17 and senior
citizens, WBGO Radio and N.J. Jazz Society members will receive a 5%
discount off ticket prices. The Sharp Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie
