(Mahwah) – Acoustic guitarist Patty Larkin will perform Friday, May 5 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey.
Hailed for her acoustic guitar wizardry and blazing wit, this veteran folk-pop artist has evolved into a widely respected musical troubadour. She recently released her tenth album, Red=Luck. Its wide-ranging collection of songs includes subtle post-9/11 ruminations and joyful romps. Her songs have been covered by artists ranging from Cher to chanteuse Holly Cole. Larkin’s own renditions have been heard in movies including Evolution and Random Hearts.
Larkin grew up in Milwaukee in a family where music created generational bonds. After playing music in her teens, first piano, then guitar, Larkin attended the University of Oregon, where she earned a degree in English literature. From there she headed to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. There, she honed an incisive writing approach and a broad musical palette.
Tickets for Patty Larkin are $24 for adults, $21 for senior citizens and $15 for youth. The Sharp Theater is located at the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus. For more information call 201.684.7844.
This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
