MAHWAH – Working parents looking for a full-day summer camp for their middle school age children will have a new option this summer. Ramapo College through its Center for Innovative and Professional Learning is offering Ramapo Explorers, a summer academic camp for middle school students who will be entering 7th and 8th grades in September. Students entering 6th grade may apply by special recommendation only.

Focusing on hands-on learning while having fun, the Ramapo Explorers academic courses are taught by certified middle school teachers and are supported by trained college-aged counselors. Held on the beautiful campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah, NJ, the program will cover a range of topics including exploring earth science, creative writing, dramatic arts and multimedia computer technology.

Students will receive the full benefits of being on a college campus, such as exploring our ponds and forests and presenting a Student Performance Showcase in the Adler Theater black box facility. In addition, recreational time will be provided in the middle of each day, with activities available such as basketball, sand volleyball, table tennis and more.

The two-week Ramapo Explorers Middle School Academic Camp will be held Monday through Friday, July 12 to 23 with various daily program lengths available: full day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; half day from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m.; and individual class options. Early drop-off is offered from 7:30-9:00 a.m. and late pick-up is available from 4-6 p.m.
