MAHWAH – The Peking Acrobats, a 26-member troupe of tumblers, contortionists, jugglers, cyclists, gymnasts and clowns will bring their gravity-defying feats to the Sharp Theater at Ramapo College of New Jersey in March.

The renowned Chinese troupe highlights the roots of its art and its members’ high-level acrobatic skills by incorporating items commonly in use two thousand years ago, including jugs, plates, drinking vessels, sticks, hoops and straps.

The Peking Acrobats will perform a variety of unusual feats–daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs, treacherous wire walking and a trick cycling kaleidoscope of magnificent movement.  Their show appeals to children and adults, featuring powerful precision tumbling, somersaulting and gymnastics, displays of contortion, flexibility and control, foot juggling dexterity and balancing.  The performance also will feature a group of musicians who play traditional Chinese instruments, creating the atmosphere of a Chinese carnival.

There will be two performances Saturday, March 14 at 3 and 7:30 p.m.  Tickets cost $26, $23 and $20 for adults, $15 for children under 17 and senior citizens will receive a 5% discount off ticket prices.  The Sharp Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie
