(Mahwah) – Violinist Bracha Malkin will perform on Sunday, March 6 at 3 p.m. in the York Room on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey. The performance is part of the College’s York Room Salon Series.
Recently taking third prize in the internationally prestigious Pagannini Competition, Malkin is a rising star on the classical music scene. She has received praise for her performances around the world and in the United States, including one at Carnegie Hall.
Malkin was born in 1981 in Israel and began playing the violin at age four under the guidance of her father, Isaac Malkin, a professor at the Manhattan School of New York, where she studied from 1988 to 1998. She graduated from The Curtis Institute where she was a pupil of Aaron Rosand.
In 2004 Malkin performed at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, playing with the Nederlands Promenade Orchestra. In 1996 she made her debut with her sister Anat, also a violinist, in the Malkin Duo at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.
