(Mahwah) – The theater program of Ramapo College of New Jersey will present A Lesson Before Dying March 10 and 11 and March 14 – 17 at 8 p.m. in the Adler Theater. Additional performances are scheduled March 12 and 13 at 2 and 8 p.m. Joanne Monteleone, a professor of theater at the College, will direct the production.

Set in a small southern town in 1948, a young black man is to be executed for a crime he did not commit. Before he dies, his former teacher helps him to value himself, and learns a lesson of his own along the way. Romulus Linney’s dramatic rendering of Ernest J. Gaine’s award-winning 1992 book is an elegant but harsh illumination of a search for grace and dignity.

Tickets for the performance are $10. The Adler Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus. For more information call 201.684.7844.
