(Mahwah) – Jazz at the Berrie Center presents Louis, Dizzy and Miles: A Celebration of the Great Trumpeters featuring Winston Byrd Saturday, February 18 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey.
Trumpeter Winston Byrd will salute the legacy and great trumpet music of some of the most exciting jazz legacies of the past century, including Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and Roy Eldridge. Known as a high-note specialist, Byrd also is an all-around improviser in swing, hard-bop and post-bop contexts and a growing master of mutes. The evening also features Justin Robinson, John Lee and Nick Rolfe.
Tickets for the performance are $22 for adults, $19 for senior citizens and $15 for youth. The Sharp Theater is located at the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus. For more information call 201.684.7844.
