(Mahwah) – Immediate Decision Day, Ramapo College of New Jersey’s antidote to the stress of the college selection and application process, is an opportunity for high school students to apply and receive a notice of acceptance in just one day. Twelve Immediate Decision Days are scheduled: August 24; September 14; October 5 and 27; November 5, 10, 12, 18, 30, and December 6, 10, 13.
Visiting high school seniors and their families will hear presentations from College administrators, tour the campus including the residence halls, attend a class, and have lunch in one of the student dining halls. They also meet individually with an admissions officer.
Those applying for Immediate Decision Day are expected to be in the top 25 percent of their graduating class and have combined SAT scores of at least 1100 (no less than 500 in verbal or math) and a combined grade point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. Those who do not meet these criteria may still apply to Ramapo through the regular application process in which more time is needed to reach a decision.
In addition, students who are eligible for a scholarship will be offered one at Immediate Decision Day. To be considered for one of the awards, students must be in the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class with combined SAT scores of at least 1250 and have a record of school or community activities. The special scholarship awards are for four years, provided the required grade point average is maintained. Scholarships include tuition and fees, residence hall rooms, or a combination of both.
Ramapo College also has scheduled a series of fall open house dates for prospective students and their parents Sundays at 11 a.m. on October 3 and 24 and November 14, and on Thursday, November 4 at 11 a.m. in the Bill Bradley Sports and Recreation Center. Prospective students and their families will have an opportunity to meet with faculty, tour the campus, learn about admissions and Immediate Decision Days, explore financial aid options, and visit residence and dining halls.
Students are encouraged to register for Immediate Decision Days or open house dates on the College’s Website, www.ramapo.edu, or by calling the Office of Admissions, 201.684.7300. Immediate Decision Days fill quickly; the Website contains information concerning availability.
