(MAHWAH, NJ) – The Salameno School of American and International Studies will be presenting the National History Honor Society Phi Alpha Theta Northeast Regional Conference on Saturday, April 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Trustees Pavilion. The event includes a complimentary breakfast, opening remarks, four sessions of presentations, lunch and an induction and award ceremony. Graydon A. Tunstall, executive director of the National Headquarters of Phi Alpha Theta, will be delivering the keynote address.
The conference will feature 11 different panel discussions including: American Representation, 20th Century History, Race in America, 19th Century America, Revolutionary War, European Modernity, American Women, Fascism, Medieval History, Classical History and American Indian Education. All panel discussions will be led by professors and experts from around the country, including Ramapo College’s own.
Thirty-eight student presenters who have submitted intriguing historical research will share their findings. As the hosting institution, 18 Ramapo College students will present, including another 20 from colleges throughout the region. Those institutions include Adelphi University, Allegheny College, Chestnut Hill College, The College of New Jersey, Fordham University, Hofstra University, Montclair State University, Saint Bonaventure University, Skidmore College and William Paterson University.
During the induction and award ceremony, new Ramapo College members of Phi Alpha Theta will be recognized. Award distinctions to the best panelists, as recommended by and selected by faculty members, will also be made.
Ramapo has been given the prestigious honor of being one of the select 33 schools elected to host a Phi Alpha Theta Regional Conference this year. Registration is free for Ramapo students and guests of panelists. Breakfast and afternoon refreshments are complimentary, but lunch is reserved only for paid registrants ($30).
