(MAHWAH, NJ) – Student Caitlin Moynihan ’13, of Bordentown, NJ, a History major, was chosen for a prestigious Lipper Internship at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.

The internship is a semester-long paid museum education program for graduate and undergraduate students in the Northeast, connecting students to local schools in order to teach about the Holocaust and Jewish heritage.  At the start of the internship, participants train in New York City, where they meet with Museum staff and survivors of the Holocaust.  Interns later share the knowledge they garnered by teaching public middle and high school students in the classroom and during visits to the Museum.

“I am very honored and excited to have been chosen for the Lipper Internship at the Museum of Jewish Heritage,” said Moynihan. “As a history major, my main area of interest is genocide and Holocaust studies. To be given the opportunity to experience and learn all that the program has to offer is truly a dream come true for me. I am grateful for all the support that Ramapo has given me and I look forward to beginning this journey.”

This is the second time a Ramapo student has been award a Lipper Internship.  Student Jordana Waliszewski ’08, originally from Poland, was the first student to serve as a Lipper Intern.

“Caitlin is the commended for having been awarded a Lipper Internship,” said Michael Riff, director of the Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies. “She is a conscientious and motivated student with a demonstrated passion for Holocaust Studies. In affording her the opportunity to acquire further subject knowledge, pedagogical skills and hands-on experience with students it will help her enormously to achieving her goal of becoming a high school Social Studies teacher.”
