(MAHWAH, NJ) – “SeaThis,” the self-titled exhibition of graduating visual arts majors goes on view in the Kresge and Pascal Galleries at the Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts, Ramapo College on May 9, 10, 11, 14, and 15 from  1 to 5 p.m.  An opening reception will be held on May 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Curated by Professor Warner Wada, this year’s capstone exhibition will present a remarkably diverse yet balanced installation displaying works in the five concentrations within the visual arts major. 

Drawing and painting artists Madeline Albright ’12 of Ocean City, NJ, Star Barkman ’12 of Landing, NJ, and Alex Bissonnette ’12 of Londonderry, New Hampshire will be exhibiting minutely detailed works on paper, large scale abstractions, narrative figurative paintings and mixed media collages.  Works will be traditionally hung as well as suspended and installed in the 20 foot high Kresge Gallery space.

Digital art and technology specialists Dan Callery ’12 of Sloatsburg, NY, Andrew Nye ’12 of Wyckoff, NJ and Jennifer Wisse ’12 of Midland Park, NJ will be screening 3-D computer animations in both “theater like” enclosures as well as on large HD flatscreen monitors.  Inspired by early science fiction animations and cartoon iconography, these labor intensive shorts will be screened continuously for the exhibition run.

Sculpture and installation artists Margo Benedetti, Danielle Feller, Annie Smith, and Christina Stambaugh will present their work in self-designed environments derived from natural history dioramas, science fair presentations, “gut bathroom rehabs,” and the confusing variety of seaweed (nori, kombu, etc.) available for human consumption.

Digital and traditional ‘silver-based’ photographers Jon Bonacolta ’12 of Upper Saddle River, NJ, Gregory DiMauro ’12 of Wayne, NJ, Jolie Lang ’12 of Westville, NJ and Nicole Prisco ’12 of Asbury, NJ will be installing black and white silver gelatin prints, archival inkjet prints and mixed media alternative process works.

Art historian Jennifer Hodbod will present a prospective museum exhibition in the first floor Berrie Center ‘Photo Lounge’ gallery space.
