Property Developer David Schlussel Appointed to Board of Trustees of Ramapo College The Honorable A.J. Sabath ’93 Re-Appointed

MAHWAH – Governor Jon S. Corzine recently appointed David Schlussel to the Board of Trustees of Ramapo College of New Jersey.

“I look forward to welcoming David Schlussel personally to the Ramapo College Board of Trustees,” said Dr. Peter P. Mercer, president of Ramapo College.  “His business acumen will be valuable in helping guide the College through these turbulent times.  I am also very pleased that Vice-Chair A. J. Sabath ’93 has been reappointed to the Board and am grateful that I and others can continue to look to him for leadership and advice.”

Schlussel is one of the founding members of Key Properties LLC, a full service commercial real estate development company dealing with all aspects of industrial, office, hi-tech, retail and residential properties based in Teaneck, New Jersey.  Schlussel has experience in acquisition, development, construction, financing, leasing and management of office, industrial, residential and retail properties.

“I am honored to have this opportunity to work with such high caliber people at this exciting time for Ramapo College,” Schlussel said. “It is an extraordinary school with tremendous potential.”

He holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Yale University and an M.S. in Judaic Studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary.  Schlussel fills a vacant position on the Board; he resides in Teaneck.

“David’s experience, both professional and volunteer, will undoubtedly bring both a valuable perspective and set of skills to the Board,” commented the Reverend Dr. Vernon C. Walton, chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The Honorable A.J. Sabath ’93, who serves as vice-chair of the Board of Trustees, has had his term renewed for six years by Governor Corzine.  Sabath is the chief of staff to Senate President Richard J. Codey and the former commissioner for the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.  Prior to joining the Executive Branch, he held a number of positions in the New Jersey Legislature.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Ramapo College. He resides in Moorestown with his two daughters.

“As an alumnus of Ramapo College, I have been proud to play a role in preparing the College and our students for the future,” said Sabath. “I look forward to working with my fellow board members and the administration to advance our strategic goals.”
