MAHWAH – John Gorka, an icon of the folk tradition, will perform at Ramapo College of New Jersey in December.
Gorka, a multi-faceted performer whose songs are full of depth, beauty and emotion, began his singing career at Godfrey Daniels, one of the oldest and most venerable music institutions in eastern Pennsylvania.
He gravitated toward folk-inspired acoustic music and before long he was performing his own songs. Those who had at one time inspired him–Suzanne Vega, Bill Morrissey, Nanci Griffith, Christine Lavin, Shawn Colvin–became his peers.
His recent album, “After Yesterday” reflects Gorka’s continuing commitment to the craft of songwriting and provides an opportunity to weave together his rich baritone voice and unique song craft.
Tickets for John Gorka’s performance cost $26, $23 and $20 for adults; $15 for children under 17 and there is a 5% discount off regular ticket prices for senior citizens. The Sharp Theater is located in The Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for the Performing and Visual Arts. To order tickets, call the box office at 201.684.7844 or log on to https://www.ramapo.edu/berriecenter/tickets-seating/.
This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
