(Mahwah) – Jimmy & The Parrots; Beginnings, a Chicago tribute band; The Classics; and Asbury Fever will headline the 2008 Commerce Bank Summer Concert Series hosted by The Ramapo College Foundation on the college campus.  On four Thursday evenings in July, families from across the region will listen to great music and enjoy a picnic with friends on the Bandshell lawn.  Sponsored by Commerce Bank, and hosted by the Ramapo College Foundation, the Summer Concert Series provides an opportunity for the College to welcome the community.

The Foundation gratefully acknowledges the support of additional concert sponsors, Liberty Mutual Insurance, McBride Agency Realtors, Ramapo College Alumni Association and the Friends of Ramapo.
Following the first concert on July 10, Ramapo College will host a celebratory fireworks display.  Concerts are free of charge; parking is $5 per vehicle.  The schedule is as follows:

Thursday, July 10
Jimmy & the Parrots, 8 p.m.; fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.
Back by popular demand, this tribute to Jimmy Buffet will take concert-goers back to that unforgettable island vacation.  From “Margaritaville” to “Hot Hot Hot,” their show will have listeners singing, laughing and dancing.

Thursday, July 17
Beginnings, 8 p.m., fireworks rain date
The ultimate tribute to the group Chicago, Beginnings has thrilled audiences throughout the country with vibrant vocals and a brilliant horn section.

Thursday, July 24
The Classics, 8 p.m.
Enjoy their hit recordings including: “Till Then,” “P.S. I Love You,” and “You’ll Never Know.”  This performance features some of the original members of the group.  Their unique vocal and visual styling adds that special touch to everything they do.

Thursday, July 31
Asbury Fever, 8 p.m.
This eight-piece band captures the intensity and sounds of legendary Jersey artists of the 70’s and 80’s and showcases a three-piece horn section with players who were featured on ABC’s “Nightline.”

The Summer Concert Series has been held at Ramapo College since 1987.  The series has grown steadily and now attracts approximately 1,000 people per evening.  The fireworks concert is the most popular, attracting more than 2,500 patrons from the surrounding area.
