(Mahwah) – The Ramapo Chorale and CantaNOVA present Northern Lights, a multi-media choral concert Sunday, December 10 at 3 p.m. in the Sharp Theater on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey.
The concert joins footage of Icelandic Aurora Borealis with music from the artic regions of Canada, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Russia and the United States. Dr. Lisa Lutter, assistant professor of music at the college, will direct the Ramapo Chorale and CantaNOVA. Itay Goren, adjunct professor of music, will accompany the singers on piano. Rachel Budin, associate professor of theater, serves as the performance’s lighting designer.
The Ramapo Chorale performs a diverse repertoire with a special focus on contemporary music from around the world. The 60 singers in the chorale reflect the lively mix of the Ramapo campus community, with membership drawn from across a wide spectrum of academic interests and programs. CantaNOVA sings mostly a cappella and specializes in new music of many styles. The 24 members of this ensemble perform a sophisticated variety that ranges from runic Finnish song to Argentinean tango and from American folk song to the avant-garde.
Tickets for Northern Lights are $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and students. The Sharp Theater is located at the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus. For more information call (201) 684 – 7844.
