(Mahwah) – Veterans of celebrated New Jersey-based dance companies including Pilobolus, Meredith Monk, and others will present Dance Connections, a showcase of exciting new work at the Sharp Theater on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey on Saturday, December 4 at 8 p.m.
Calling themselves the Bergen DanceMakers, these internationally renowned choreographers and dancers have returned from national and international touring to present the showcase.
The evening features hilarious one person dance acts, powerful and elegant duets and non-stop athletic group formations. Artists include Liliana Amador of Teaneck, who with Alison Oakes of New York City will perform a duet, Crawl Space;” choreographer Irving Burton of Bergenfield, who will open the program with It’s Me And All My Friends,” featuring dancers from the Center for Modern Dance; Nai-Ni Chen of Fort Lee, who will present Rain Drops,” a festive, elegant quartet based on her memory of growing up in Taiwan, and Demarest resident Susan Thomasson, a former dancer with Pilobolus Dance Theatre, who will perform a company classic, Can’t Get Started,” set to band swing classics.
Tickets are $21 for adults, $18 for senior citizens and $12 for youth. The Sharp Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for the Performing and Visual Arts. For tickets or information, call 201.684.7844.
