(Mahwah) – Deaf comedienne, actress, author and motivational speaker Kathy Buckley takes the dis” out of disability by inspiring young and old with her refreshing insights on life’s challenges in a one woman show Monday, October 25, at 2 p.m. in the Sharp Theater on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey. There is free admission to the performance.
Born with a hearing loss that went undetected until she was eight, Buckley was led to believe she was mentally retarded. She suffered abuse, a terrible accident, and cancer all before the age of thirty. Rather than be consumed by grief, she went on to become a top female comic, and the award-winning author of a one-woman show, a PBS special and a book.
The performance will be sponsored by Ramapo College’s Office of Specialized Services. For information, call 201.684.7844.
This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment of the Arts.
