(Mahwah) – John J. Murphy, author of Intermarket Analysis: Profiting from Global Market Relationships, is the featured speaker on September 23 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the first of several Author Series talks presented by the Center for Business and Public Policy and Ramapo College Business Network. The event will be held in the Sharp Theater located in The Berrie Center on the Ramapo College campus. Registration for Murphy’s talk will be accepted through September 14.

Murphy, a former technical analyst for CNBC, has over 30 years of market experience and is the author of several best-selling books, including Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets, which is regarded as the standard reference in the field. Intermarket Analysis created a new branch of technical analysis emphasizing market linkages.

The author talk will be moderated by Dr. Murray Sabrin, executive director of the Center for Business and Public Policy. Murphy has appeared on Bloomberg TV, CNN Moneyline, Nightly Business Report, and Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser, and has been quoted in Barron’s and other prominent financial publications. The author was given the first award for outstanding contribution to global technical analysis by the International Federation of Technical Analysts. He is also the recipient of the 2002 Market Technicians Association Annual Award. Murphy is chief technical analyst for Stockcharts.com and president of MurphyMorris Money Management Company.

Upcoming talks include Dr. Thomas J. DiLorenzo on October 26. He is an economist and historian who is the author of The Real Lincoln. His presentation, Lincoln, War and Public Policy: Lessons for the 21st Century,” discusses how the Lincoln administration’s policies during the Civil War are relevant today.
