(Mahwah) – Experience a diverse day of culture on Wednesday, November 19 when the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts at Ramapo College of New Jersey sponsors a trip to the International Center of Photography and the American Folk Art Museum.

The first stop on this daylong trip is the International Center of Photography to view Strangers: The First ICP Triennial of Photography and Video. This exhibit presents the works of 40 contemporary artists from around the world, exploring the different roles that photography plays in negotiating the boundaries between trust and fear, intimacy and isolation, and public and private life,” says Brian Wallis, the exhibit’s curator. Wallis recently spoke at the Berrie Center’s Recess Program. Strangers investigates the social consequences of globalization through images emanating from encounters between people not known to one another.

After viewing the exhibit’s photographs and videos, the group will lunch at Dallas BBQ, a bustling eatery located on 43rd Street in the heart of Times Square. Then it’s off to the American Folk Art Museum for a guided tour of The Perfect Game: America Looks at Baseball. Michael Kimmelman of The New York Times described The Perfect Game as the sweet and nearly pitch-perfect show at the American Folk Art Museum. . . which Elizabeth Warren has affectionately put together. . .is not a documentary of the sport. It’s an elaborate illustration of a shared love affair with a game, expressed, as love often is, through art.”

Those traveling to New York City will return to Ramapo College at approximately 4:15 p.m. The cost for the trip is $57 for adults and $50 for seniors 62 and older, which includes all admission fees, the guided tour of the American Folk Art Museum and lunch. In addition to the museum trip, Lee Kogan, director of the Folk Art Institute and curator of special projects at the American Folk Art Museum, will discuss the exhibit at the Berrie Center’s Recess Program Thursday, November 6 at 1 p.m. in the Adler Theater.
