(Mahwah) – Sugar: Friend or Foe?” will be the subject of a free nutritional presentation scheduled Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m. in The Trustees Pavilion on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey. The program is sponsored by Ramapo College of New Jersey, The Friends of Ramapo, The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care.
The incidence of diabetes linked to obesity has increased significantly in U.S. children in the past few decades. Learn about the complications of obesity and how it relates to Type 2 diabetes as well as other medical conditions. The discussion will include food choices, stress management, and dealing with social pressure. This program will also include methods to prevent complications of obesity, how to deal with fast foods, school lunches, and how to establish healthy eating habits.
Speakers will include Steven Goldstein, MD; Leslie Berger, RN, BSN, CDE; Leslie Schifrien, MS, RD, CDE; and Lois Powell, MSN, RN, APNC, BC.
