Located in northern Bergen County on Route 202, Ramapo is just five minutes away from major highways such as I-287, the New York State Thruway, and Route 17. Ramapo is also approximately 45 minutes northwest of New York City.
Ramapo College offers numerous shuttle services which run from the Bradley Center at Ramapo College to the Route 17 Train Station in Ramsey. To utilize the train and train shuttle, please view both NJ Transit and Ramapo College schedules to plan your travel.
A Coach USA/Shortline bus route also operates from the campus to Port Authority in NYC.

Using Route 17
Follow Route 17 North to Mahwah to exit sign “202 Suffern/Morristown” on right. At the end of the short exit ramp turn left (Route 202 South). Continue on Route 202 to light. Campus entrance is on left.
Using Garden State Parkway
Leave Parkway at exit 163 (left lane exit). Follow Route 17 North, using instructions above.
Using Route 208
Follow Route 208 North until Route 202 in Oakland. Continue north on 202 until first light in Mahwah. Campus entrance is on right.
Using Route 287
Take Route 287 North to exit 66 (Mahwah); follow Route 17 South to Route 202 exit. At the end of the exit ramp make left turn (202 South). Continue on Route 202 to light. Campus entrance is on left.
Using New Jersey Turnpike
Take N.J. Turnpike (I-95 North) to end (exit 18W or 18E). Continue North to Route 80 West to Route 17 North. Follow directions above using Route 17.
Using Route 17
Follow Route 17 South (approximately 1.5 miles from Suffern exit on N.Y. State Thruway). Turn right at Route 202 exit. At end of exit ramp, turn left (Route 202 South). Continue on Route 202 approximately one mile to light. Campus entrance is on left.
Using NY State Thruway
Take N.Y. State Thruway (I-87) South to Route 287 South (New Jersey), exit 15 (Suffern) onto Route 17 South. Follow directions for “From the North Using Route 17.”
From Orange County Using Route 17
Follow directions “From the North” using Route 17 (above).
From Westchester and Rockland Counties
Follow Route 287 West over the Tappan Zee Bridge to Route 17 South. Follow directions above “From the North Using Route 17.’
From the East
Follow Route 80 or Route 4 to Route 17 North. Follow Route 17 North. Follow directions above “From the South Using Route 17 North.”
Follow Route 80 East to Route 287 North to Mahwah exit 66 (south on Route 17 to 202 South).
Take the George Washington Bridge, Route 4 West to Route 17 North to 202 South.

Ramapo Valley County Reservation

For hundreds of years mindful awareness was cultivated in the outdoors. Take time of your busy schedule to enter into the natural world to observe, sense, listen, and participate in the beauty and wisdom of nature at the Ramapo Reservation.
Situated over 4,000 acres of land, Ramapo Valley County Reservation is Bergen County’s largest park area which features three panaromic views, a pond, a reservoir, and a waterfall. The park also features a network of five look trails which all begin within a two-mile radius of the parking lot.
Visitors can hike the hills and valleys and enjoy the Ramapo River and several ponds while exploring present moment attentiveness and working with sensory awareness in nature.

Meals will be served 3 times a day for retreats that are longer than a day. They will be prepared by our wonderful on-site catering staff, and they will be vegetarian based with fish and chicken options, catered to your specific dietary needs, as indicated on the application or registration form. Gluten free options are available as well.

Guests attending overnight retreats stay at one of our dormitories for the silent retreat or at the local hotel, usually the Fairfield Inn for other events.
For guests who are staying on campus for a silent retreat, rooms in our dormitory Mackin Hall come with dressers, a bathroom with a shower and shower curtain, and an adjustable air conditioning/heating unit. A linen set which includes sheets, a pillowcase, a thin blanket, a thin pillow, a hand towel, wash cloth, and a bath math will be provided. Please note that shower towels are not provided. Each room also has a small refrigerator and microwave, but no coffee maker or tea pot. There are vending machines and free laundry facilities on the 1st floor, however laundry detergent is not supplied.

If staying at the Mahwah Fairfield Inn, offer a special discounted rate if you mention the Mindfulness at Ramapo College Ramapo Event. The cost is approximately $132/day, which includes taxes and fees. (Do not book online, please call to receive the Mindfulness at Ramapo College discount.)
For single accommodations, you may call and book your own room. If you would like a double accommodation, please select this option at registration. The Mindfulness at Ramapo College will arrange your double room accommodations. At check out, you will be responsible for half of the total room fee of approximately $132/day, which includes taxes and fees. For each person, it will be approximately $66/day, which includes taxes and fees.

Shuttle service will be provided from hotel to campus the first couple of days of the program as participants will begin to arrange ride shares with fellow classmates who are commuting and/or have their own transportation on-site.
